Kangaroo Island

Field Tour #1: Wildlife Tour - $25 per person
MAX: 50 people

Highlights:
Monarto Zoo:
An adventurous safari bus tour, giving visitors the chance to look at rare and endangered species from Asia, African, Sri Lanka, India, North America, Sahara Desert and Australia, including free range emus and kangaroos. In a surprising twist – the tourists are placed on a bus, and the wildlife roams free!!!

Dundee’s Crocodile Park:
Guided tour including: holding snakes, cockatoos, and CROCODILES!!!! Chance to watch croc feeding session and discover Australian outback wildlife.

Field Tour #2: River Tour - $35 per person
MAX: 50 people

Highlights:
River Cruise:
Climb on board the Barrangul where your Captain awaits to take you on a cruise down the River Murray. Relaxing with lunch on the river, it’s a chance to take in the sights of historical towns, ancient cliffs, and towering gum trees.

Monarto Zoo:
An adventurous safari bus tour, giving visitors the chance to look at rare and endangered species from Asia, African, Sri Lanka, India, North America, Sahara Desert and Australia, including free range emus and Kangaroos. In a surprising twist – the tourists are placed on a bus, and the wildlife roams free!!!

ALSO:

Ngaut Ngaut Aboriginal Site:
A guided walk through Aboriginal dreaming and culture. The birthplace of “Black Duck Dreaming”, visitors can experience Aboriginal culture as you journey through the ancestral home of the “Nganguraku People.” A breath-taking, historical experience!

This tour requires some walking to the Ngaut Ngaut site, down a sloped path for several hundred metres.up to top


Field Tour #3: Barossa Valley Tour - $25 per person
MAX: 200 people

Highlights:
Norm’s Coolies:
Watch Norm and his tribe of 30 Coolies (a unique breed of sheep dog) give an amazing performance. Extremely well trained, Norm and his Coolies offer a memorable experience with a choreographed routine that’s entertaining for all. Closely in tune with their master, sit back and enjoy the love between Norm and his beloved sheep dogs.

Winery Tours:
An internationally recognised South Australian icon, the Barossa Valley is one of Australia’s most prominent wine regions. This field tour will take you through the region, stopping at various wineries along the way to discover the wine making process, history of the region, and of course have wine tastings at each stop.

ALSO:

Whispering Wall:
A unique attraction, the ‘Whispering Wall’ is the retaining dam of the Barossa Reservoir. The wall is one sector of a perfect circle, and the soundwaves bounce in a series of straight jumps along it to the other end. As a result, visitors can whisper at one end, and can be clearly heard at the other, hence the name ‘Whispering Wall.’ A must see for all visitors to this region.

Field Tour #4: Coastal Tour - $25 per person

Highlights:
Granite Island:
Take the horse tram across to Granite Island, home to the ‘little penguins’, for a professionally guided tour of this ecological precinct. Discover the behaviours and movement patterns of these furry creatures, as well as look the penguin interactive centre to discover their history. And…if we’re lucky, we may get the chance to watch a feeding session with the penguins just metres away from us.

Cockle Train:
The Cockle Train is a South Australian icon, traveling along the oldest steel railway in Australia. Take in the picturesque view as you travel along the coast between Goolwa and Victor Harbor, where Southern Right Whales may be spotted between the months of June and October.

McLaren Vale:
McLaren Vale is a famous wine region of South Australia. Visiting two wineries, you’ll get the chance to sample local wines and produce, as well as learn about the history of this world-class wine region.

This tour requires several hundred metres of walking with some small slopes.up to top


Field Tour #5: Educational Tour – No additional costs

WAITE CAMPUS:
The tour will take in the Plant Research Centre and Agri-Science Precinct which provides facilities for advanced research in crop and pasture breeding and evaluation, horticulture, sustainable resources research, entomology, plant nutrition, field crops pathology and associated disciplines.  Enhanced performance and efficiencies in research programs are achieved through collaborations with South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) Universities, Cooperative Research Centres and Industries.  Other areas of the Waite Campus that may also be visited include: the Plant Genomics Centre (molecular breeding), The Field Crop Improvement Centre (cereal, pulse breeding, crop improvement, National Variety Trials) and the main Waite Building (Entomology/Pasture Research).

URRBRAE AGRICULTURAL HIGH SCHOOL WETLAND:
The school is situated just six kilometres from the centre of the Adelaide CBD.  It is a complex school with extensive land holdings of 114 acres.  This includes defined areas for farming, plant and animal husbandry, environmental land, pasture, horticulture and arboriculture paddocks and an extensive flood mitigation and wetlands education and land management project (Urrbrae Wetland Flood Mitigation Project).

SOUTH AUSTRALIA AQUATIC SCIENCES CENTRE – WEST BEACH: 
The South Australian Aquatic Sciences Centre is South Australia's leading focus for enhancing research in marine and inland fisheries, aquaculture, marine biotechnology, and environmental and ecosystem ecology.  A tour of the Aquatic Sciences Centre will highlight these areas of research.

Highlights:
Virginia Horticultural Centre: A guided tour of the horticultural centre, learning about the range of resources/services in place to assist in supporting and facilitating industry and community growth of horticulture in the Virginia region.

Winery Tour:  One of several wine regions within South Australia, Virginia is home to Vigara Winery. Visitors will embark on a guided winery tour, discovering the process of making the perfect South Australian wine…and of course sampling the produce in a Wine Tasting session.

ALSO:

Visit a local broadacre farm and learn about dryland farming in this area.
