Day 1
Be greeted by your guide and travel to the Flinders Ranges via the Clare Valley; home of many of Australia’s fine top wine producers. Here we stop at the Skillogalee Winery for morning tea (own cost). After morning tea you’ll travel northwards passing through farming country, arriving at Melrose, the oldest township of the Flinders Ranges for lunch, dining at the historic Bluey Blundstones Blacksmith’s Shop Café.

Afternoon activity includes a 1 hour nature walk to the depths of Alligator Gorge within the Mount Remarkable National Park. From here we will travel to Quorn where you’ll check into your accommodation for the next two nights and relax watching the Australian native animals grazing in the sunset.

Dinner that night will be shared with some locals who are easy going and full of fun, interesting stories of life in Australia.

Day 2
An early start sees us heading to where some say life began. The story will be revealed as you pass through ancient gorges with their secrets of evolution.

Best described as a cultural experience we’ll view significant Aboriginal Dreaming sites, take a short walk in a rugged landscape to learn about it’s unique ecology and have lunch at a famous Australian hotel, renowned for ‘feral food’ that’s talked about the world over. The old hotel is also a good spot for the best coffee in the Flinders, or you can try a cold cleansing ale.

You’ll have time to freshen up before heading out to a local restaurant hosted by a real character. Once an old stone brewery, the restaurant has been tastefully converted in a wonderful location. Enjoy a drink on the decking while your evening meal is prepared for you.

Tonight we’ll see who can spin the best ‘yarn’. No - we’re not talking wool, but tall stories. Aussie humour is like the country, dry but inspiring; can you come up with a tall tale to share?

Day 3
This morning you have the opportunity to take an optional 2 hour Eco tour with Flinders Ranges Water Cruises to the tip of the Spencer Gulf.

Non cruise participants will spend the equal time visiting the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Gardens with the guide who is an avid bird photographer.

We’ll stop for lunch at a wonderful old bakery in the Southern Flinders Ranges where they bake fresh food every day. We’ll return to Adelaide late afternoon inspired and having enjoyed a memorable journey.

Above tours are optional.
